How much downtime for Corevist? Not enough…

According to The Kitchen, “The perfect soft-boiled egg should have firm, custard-like whites and a warm, runny yolk”.  They go on to tell us that “…If you’re just cooking one or two eggs, five minutes is perfect for a runny yolk…”.
Five minutes.  That’s all it takes to make the perfect soft boiled egg.
There were 43,200 minutes in the month of November.  At 5 minutes an egg, if I so desired, I could have boiled 8640 eggs.
I also happen to know that there are 1696 players in the National Football League.  If I combine these two factoids, that means I could have given each NFL player 5 soft boiled eggs in the month of November.  I get that that’s probably not much nutrition for these hulking athletes, but 8640 is a lot of eggs.
You get the point.
Now think about this.
If I could only boil eggs whenever the Corevist SAP Integrated B2B eCommerce service was unavailable to our clients in November, any idea how many 5 minute soft boiled eggs I could make?
If you guessed ZERO you guessed right.
We delivered an all time high availability of 99.993% in November (see attached graph).  That means that our website was unavailable to our clients, and their customers, for a grand total of 3 minutes.  That’s 180 seconds.  That’s not a very long period of time.  Harry Houdini was able to hold his breath longer than that!
November availability
Bottom line is that I would only have time to boil an egg for 3 minutes.
Three minute eggs are inedible.
Now I potentially have 1696 beefy NFL players mad at me.  But I’ve got a couple hundred thousand website users who are pretty happy.
I’ll take the latter.
My next goal is for our monthly website outages to last for only as long as I can hold my breath.
Ready?  Set?  Go!
