CLIENT: Mannington Mills

  • Industry: Flooring manufacturing
  • Annual revenue: $500m-$1b
  • Employees: 1001-5000

Requirements: Amazon-style UX + SAP ERP integration

Mannington Mills is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of flooring materials. The company maintains a strong, diverse portfolio, selling to two primary segments:

  1. Residential–Dealers who sell directly to consumers.
  2. Commercial–Contractors who purchase flooring materials for commercial projects.

Mannington began their eCommerce journey with Corevist Self Serve Ordering, our B2B portal solution that supports SKU-based order entry (but does not include a catalog).

Now Mannington wanted to create a flexible, Amazon-style eCommerce experience with rich content, browsing, and more—while staying on Corevist’s flexible, SAP-integrated commerce platform.

Corevist solution implemented:

  • Corevist Commerce suite with 2 catalogs in one storefront
  • Amazon-style UX with rich content, intelligent search, mobile readiness, & more
  • Full integration to SAP
  • Easy real-time inventory lookup
  • Personalized pricing
  • Alternative units of measure

Transitioning 2 market segments to B2B eCommerce

For both market segments (Residential and Commercial), Mannington wanted to drive greater adoption of their Corevist solution and reduce or eliminate phone/fax/email ordering.

The key, Mannington believed, was to expand their Corevist solution by adding an Amazon-style catalog with rich content. This would allow customers to browse and find the products they wanted, whereas previously, customers had to punch in SKU numbers to place orders via Corevist Self Serve Ordering.

John Campbell, Sr. Manager of Customer Technology Strategy, also wanted the ability to upsell and cross-sell to customers. Within both the Residential and Commercial businesses, cross-sell/upsell would empower Mannington to drive eCommerce adoption and reduce high-cost order entry channels like phone, fax, and email.

Mannington Mills’ requirements:

  • Amazon-style user experience for B2B eCommerce
  • Flexibility to support 2 distinct market segments
  • SAP ERP integration included to eliminate data duplication
  • Real-time SAP inventory lookup capability
  • Easy ordering by catalog browsing and/or SKU-based order entry
  • Personalized pricing rules honored from SAP
  • Alternative units of measure supported

Why Mannington expanded Corevist

Corevist Commerce: Amazon-Style UX, Built On SAP ERP

Corevist Commerce offers the seamless UX which B2B buyers expect in the age of Amazon. It’s built on the same SAP integration architecture as all our solutions, which means you can start with functionality like Self Serve Ordering, Bill Pay, or Order Tracking, then expand to Corevist Commerce when you’re ready.

Of course, you can also launch Corevist Commerce immediately, without an intermediary step, and give your users rich content, intelligent search, product comparison, cross-sell/upsell, and more. The point is finding a flexible path that works for your business.

“We knew that Corevist Commerce would deliver the Amazon-style UX we needed with real-time SAP data. And we knew that data would be tailored to our exact needs.”

–John Campbell, Sr. Manager of Customer Technology Strategy

Corevist Features Essential to Mannington Mills:

  • B2B commerce platform with Amazon-style UX, full SAP integration included
  • All relevant SAP business rules honored in eCommerce (including complex pricing)
  • Instant inventory lookup with real-time SAP data
  • Flexible architecture to support both segments (Residential and Commercial)
  • Support for alternative units of measure

Fluid personalization through SAP integration

Because Mannington already relied on Corevist’s SAP-integrated architecture for SKU-based order entry, it made sense to expand the solution to our full suite, Corevist Commerce. That way, Mannington could maintain the powerful SAP integration which they’d come to rely on while adding the rich content and Amazon-style user experience which both market segments needed.

Because each Corevist Commerce user is mapped to a sold-to (customer account) in SAP, that user experiences their personalized SAP business rules in eCommerce. They automatically see the pricing associated with their account in SAP, as well as any personalized ATP (inventory) rules, SKU permissions, minimum quantities, and more.

That’s how Corevist’s SAP integration empowered Mannington to offer the eCommerce UX which their dealers and commercial buyers needed.

Prioritizing value through
Corevist’s Agile rollout methodology

Corevist’s Agile rollout methodology:

  • Oriented around the voice of your customers
  • Iterative approach prioritizes critical functionality for go-live
  • Gains essential early buy-in from internal users like Sales, Customer Service, etc.

Mannington set an aggressive but attainable goal for their web channel: Ultimately, they wanted to get 10% of their total business through Corevist Commerce. To achieve that, the upgrade of their Corevist solution would have to center on the voice of the customer.

Corevist’s agile, customer-centric rollout methodology was a perfect fit.

Across a series of focus groups, Corevist demonstrated the new eCommerce solution and asked Mannington’s real dealers and commercial buyers a provocative question: “Why can’t we put this into production today?”

This question helps us uncover the things your dealers & distributors actually want in an eCommerce solution. It’s how we ensure that Corevist delivers the things your users need, no bloat included.

Within 48 hours of gaining VPN access, we have a working demo connected to our clients’ real-time SAP data. Then, we schedule a 2-Day Project Initiation Workshop, where we review the site together with clients to gather a list of modifications that need to be made prior to the first Focus Group.

Between the workshop and the first Focus Group, we make configuration changes and customizations that were documented at the kickoff. The time between project start and the first Focus Group is often as short as two weeks.

At every Focus Group we ask, “Why can’t this go live today?” Every time we ask, we uncover a list of reasons. Those reasons become the Change Request Log in our online collaboration portal. We repeat this process, with additional Focus Groups as needed.

Client Testing, occurs concurrently with later rounds of customizations and typically takes 3-5 weeks.

Mannington’s upgrade from SKU-based order entry to the full Corevist Commerce suite was a smash hit with customers. The seamless browsing and purchasing experience made it easy to buy exactly what customers needed, and cross-sell/upsell capabilities helped Mannington drive a massive revenue increase.

Due to Corevist’s modular structure, the eCommerce cart, order tracking, and invoice portions of the solution were familiar to established users. This made it easy for them to embrace the upgrade and start taking advantage of the new Amazon-style catalog.

“Now that we’ve launched full-catalog eCommerce, it feels amazing. Our customers enjoy a rich user experience that stands with the best of B2C. We’re Easier To Do Business With, which means everyone wins.”
